To promote interdisciplinary collaboration, align with national industrial restructuring, and support the rapid development of eight chemical and chemical engineering-related pillar industries in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Hainan University optimized and integrated resources from the former College of Chemical Engineering and Technology and the Department of Applied Chemistry of the former College of Science. In June 2023, the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was officially established.

In recent years, the college has been honored with titles such as "National Advanced Collective of Professional and Technical Talent," "National Advanced Collective," "National Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in Excellence and Innovation," "Hainan Provincial Advanced Grassroots Party Organization," "Hainan Provincial May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branch (General Branch)," and "Workers' Pioneer."

The college boasts a high-quality and highly skilled faculty team. In 2009, it was jointly recognized by the Central Organization Department, Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and Ministry of Science and Technology as a "National Outstanding Professional and Technical Advanced Collective." Currently, the college has 152 faculty and staff members, including 139 full-time teachers. Among them, 33 hold senior professional titles, 54 hold associate senior titles, and 52 hold intermediate titles.
